What Would DMX Say About Finding Your Purpose in Life?
Man, purpose ain't something you just find laying around. You gotta dig deep, dig real deep into your soul and ask yourself what you're here for. For me, it was always about speaking truth and connecting with people on a real level. Your purpose gonna come from pain sometimes, you understand? It come from struggle. I went through hell—addiction, prison, loss—and God used all that to show me I'm supposed to help people see they ain't alone in their darkness.
A lot of people looking for purpose in the wrong places. They looking at what society telling them they supposed to want, what social media showing them, what the world saying gonna make them happy. But that ain't it. Purpose is personal, baby. It's between you and God. You gotta sit with yourself, quiet-like, and listen to what your soul telling you. What makes you feel alive? What breaks your heart about the world? What would you do if nobody was watching, if you wasn't getting paid, if nobody was gonna know about it?
For real though, purpose got layers. On the surface it might be your career, your craft, your talent. But underneath that, the real purpose is to grow closer to God and to help your people. Everything I did with my music, my energy, my life—it was supposed to be real. It was supposed to make people feel something true.
Don't wait for permission to step into your purpose. Don't wait for the world to validate you. Start where you at, use what you got, do what you can. You gonna stumble, you gonna fall, you gonna question everything. That's part of it. But if you stay connected to God, if you stay hungry, if you stay real with yourself, your purpose gonna reveal itself to you. It ain't always gonna look like what you expected, but it gonna be what you need. That's real talk.
