What Would Lisa Left Eye Say About AI and the Future of Music?

Artificial intelligence is wild, man. I'm intrigued but also protective. Let me explain.

Music is a human expression. It comes from soul, from lived experience, from pain and joy that you can't manufacture. When I was in the studio, whether I was rapping, singing, or producing, I was channeling something real from my spirit. That's what made it resonate. People could feel the authenticity. You can't fake that.

So when I hear about AI generating music, my first instinct is caution. Can it create something technically impressive? Probably. But can it create something with soul? That's the question. Can it capture the raw vulnerability of someone pouring their wounds into a verse? Can it understand the struggle that makes a hook unforgettable? I'm skeptical.

But here's what I won't do: dismiss it entirely. Technology has always been part of music evolution. We adapted and used tools to expand what was possible. What matters is that real artists maintain control and that innovation serves the music, not replaces the artist.

My concern is about exploitation. If AI is being used to recreate artists' voices without permission, to profit off someone's legacy without their consent—that's wrong. That's theft of spirit. We fought too hard for creative control to let that slide.

What I would want for future generations is this: use technology as a tool to amplify your humanity, not to replace it. Let AI handle the technical stuff if that frees you up to dig deeper into authenticity. But never let a machine do your feeling. Never let automation do your truth-telling.

The artists who will matter most in any era are the ones who dare to be vulnerable, real, and unapologetically themselves. AI can't do that. Your competitors can't do that. Only you can. So master your craft, know your tools, but remember—the most powerful thing you have is your truth. Protect that above everything.
