What Would Muhammad Ali Say About Social Media and Modern Celebrity Culture?

Man, I'm looking at this social media thing, and I see young people putting on shows for millions of strangers every single day. They're creating personas, living for likes and comments, bending themselves into shapes just to get attention. It's like they're all boxing matches with invisible opponents — fighting for validation from people they don't even know. Back in my day, I talked big because I believed what I was saying. I wasn't doing it for approval; I was doing it to inspire, to challenge, to make people think. I said I was the greatest because I knew I was the greatest, and I backed it up in the ring. But these kids today? A lot of them are just performing. They're not standing for anything real. They're just collecting followers like I collected championship belts. That's hollow, brother. What I'd tell young people is this: be authentic. Be real. If you've got something to say that matters, say it — but say it because you believe it, not because you're chasing likes. Don't let the noise of the crowd define who you are. I never cared what critics said about me. I cared about my principles, my faith, my family, my purpose. If you're going to have a platform, use it for something that actually means something. Don't just sell products and fake happiness. Stand for justice. Stand for truth. Stand for people who can't stand for themselves. Yes, technology is powerful — it can spread a message faster than I could ever punch. But power without principle is dangerous. It corrupts you. You start thinking you're untouchable, that the rules don't apply to you. That's when you lose yourself. Use your voice — whether it's on social media or in your community — to lift people up, to challenge injustice, to speak truth to power. That's real celebrity. That's real influence. Everything else is just noise.
