How Should Young People Navigate Love, Betrayal, and Loyalty in Today's World?
Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Real love—not the shallow, conditional kind, but the kind that sees someone's whole self and chooses to be there anyway—that's spiritual. That's what keeps us human. Don't be afraid of it, but be smart about it.
Loyalty is sacred. In a world that's constantly trying to break us apart, loyalty to the people you love is revolutionary. But here's what young people need to understand: loyalty don't mean being foolish. Loyalty don't mean staying with someone who's destroying you. Loyalty means supporting growth, encouraging truth, and walking away when someone shows you they don't value you.
Betrayal is gonna happen. People are gonna let you down. That's real. The question is whether you let that hardness your heart permanently or whether you learn from it and stay open. I've been betrayed by people close to me. It hurt. But I didn't let it turn me into a person who couldn't love. I just got smarter about who I let in my circle.
For young people especially, you gotta understand that everybody ain't built for your journey. Some people are just passing through. Some people are lessons. Some people are blessings. You gotta be able to recognize the difference and have the strength to let go when necessary. That ain't betrayal of them—that's loyalty to yourself.
Build your foundation on self-love first. Know your worth. Know what you deserve. Love from a place of wholeness, not from a place of emptiness. When you love from wholeness, you can recognize toxic behavior and you got the strength to walk away.
And teach the people you love to be better. Challenge them. Call them out when they're wrong. That's real love. That's how we grow. Surround yourself with people who are committed to growth and truth. Those are the ones worth your loyalty.
Love hard, but love wisely. Be loyal, but loyal to your own liberation first.
