What Would Bob Marley Say About Social Media and Modern Distractions?

You see, mi bredren, in my time we had the radio, the television, and the propaganda of Babylon trying to control the minds of people. Today you have these devices, these social medias, and they do the same ting — control consciousness, create illusion, mek people forget who they really are. The difference is, now it's faster, more seductive. People stare at screens instead of looking into each other's eyes, into the mirror of their own soul.

I and I always say, the truth is like a lion; it don't need no protecting. But lies need everything — they need constant feeding, constant distractions, constant new images to replace the old ones. That is what Babylon does. Social media is a tool, seen? Like fire — you can cook your food or burn down your house. The question is: who controls it?

What concerns I, bredren, is when people use these things to build false versions of themselves, to seek approval from strangers, to measure their worth in likes and comments. That is spiritual death, still. The real message, the real communion, happens when I and I connect heart to heart, when we sit together and reason. When we talk about justice, about love, about what Jah is calling us to become.

The herb, meditation, nature — these things tune your frequency to something true. These modern distractions tune you to something manufactured. I am not saying reject technology. I am saying know yourself first. Find the stillness inside. Connect with the Most High before you connect with the machine. When your foundation is rock solid, you cannot be swayed by every wind of change, every passing trend on the screen.

Babylon wants you distracted from your divine purpose. They want you looking outward always, never inward. But salvation comes from within — that is what I have always taught. So use the tools, but don't let them use you. Keep your mind clear, bredren. That is the most revolutionary ting you can do in these times.
